Gorou: Yellow Squash Cake

image

Hello, every birdy. Today we are going to be making a very simple recipe and we are going to be looking at one of the first characters of the game where I was like “Oh my gosh! I don’t care how he plays. I need him!” And yes, I did fall for him because of his ears and tail. They are just so cute.

Gorou (Go-rew) is the character in question.  He is the general in the Watatsumi (Wat-at-sue-me) Island Army. His favorite food is cake. He states that he has a major sweet tooth. Which made it easier for me to try and figure out what to make. He was the first character where I was like “ I need him!”

For today’s recipe, we are going to be making a simple butter cake from Betty Crocker and we are going to be adding Yellow Squash to it. Because I didn’t want them to go bad.  So I grated the yellow squash the same way you would if you were going to be making zucchini bread. Seed and all, because the seeds aren’t that big, and they can be eaten.

For this recipe, you are going to preheat your oven to 350F.

Grease the preferred pan that you are going to be using. For this recipe, I used a 9X13 inch baking pan and it worked really well.

The recipe and the measurements will be down in the description below. Feel free to check it out.

The ingredients that you will need are:

  • All purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Butter or margarine softened
  • Milk
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • Eggs
  • Yellow squash

The recipe says to beat all the ingredients together. But, I personally like to add the wet ingredients to one bowl and beat them together until they are fluffy. This includes butter, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, eggs, and yellow squash.

Gradually add the dry ingredients. This includes the Flour, baking powder, and salt..beat everything together for 3 minutes. Scrape the bowl occasionally. And pour into the pan(s).

Bake the 9×13 rectangle for 35 to 40 minutes.

Bake the 9-inch rounds for 25 to 30 minutes.

Bake the 8-inch rounds for 30 to 35 minutes.

Or until the toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the rectangle in the pan on a wire rack.

Cool the cake pans for 10 minutes in the pan, then remove to a wire rack.

If you are using cake pans, let them cool completely before frosting.

I did a simple powdered sugar dusting on top. It seems to be the best for me right now. It is less stressful, and I like the look of how it is. Also trying to find a decent frosting recipe. Because I am kinda grossed out by ABC (American Butter Cream.)

I did decorate this with powdered sugar dusting because I made paw prints on the top. I thought it was really cute.
