Venti: Fresh Apple Cake

image

Hello, every birdie. Today we are going to be making a recipe fit for a drunk bard (minus the alcohol.) This recipe is also going to be a simple apple recipe. Over the summer I went to a free giveaway thing that my community was doing and I found a cookbook. And it was really good. I find that the best cookbooks out there are charity cookbooks. Raising money for something. And it is just a collection of different recipes from that community.

Venti is a bard from Mondanst. He is a very interesting character and very important to the story. He was probably one of the easiest characters to be inspired by because his favorite food is honestly just an apple. Being in the Empire state in the fall time, I got this. Apples are sometimes just thrown at us. Not actually, that would hurt a lot. Most of the time, we really don’t buy apples. We are given them. We are honestly so blessed.

Okay, enough on that. We are going to start making this recipe. If you want to make this recipe for yourself, feel free to check it out in the description down below.

For the cake, you are going to need

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups cooking oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsps vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, I usually omit nuts from recipes. Not because anyone in my family as an allergy to them. Just because I don’t usually have nuts in my house.
  • 3 to 4 cups of apples chopped or diced. You don’t have to peel the apples.

The first thing you are going to do is preheat the oven to 325F. And grease a 10 X 13 ½ inch pan. If you don’t have this massive pan, I think it would work fine in a regular 9×13 pan. I would just watch it for 50 -55 minutes.

In a large bowl, you are going to sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

image

Now you are going to add in your oil, eggs, and vanilla.

image

Beat well and add in your apples. Let it stand for a few minutes.

image

Fold in the rest of the apple and nuts.

image

Bake your cake in your prepared pan for 60 to 65 minutes. If you are using a smaller pan check it at 50-55 minutes. As my mom always tells me “You can always add more time. You cannot subtract time from your baked good.”

While it is baking you are going to work on the icing. And usually, I don’t do the icing or frosting for these recipes. However, I looked at it and saw that it wasn’t complicated, and I had all of the ingredients.

image

For the icing you will need:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ stick margarine
  • ¼ cream or canned milk, i used regular 2% milk and it tasted really good
  • 1 Tablespoon of vanilla
image

Combine all ingredients until they are smooth and spread them on the cake while it is still warm.

Enjoy.

This cake wasn’t exactly my favorite cake I have ever made. But it definitely wasn’t the worst. Looking at you Carrots with a side of the cake. It’s not like it was really sweet, because it was in the bigger pan. The sugar was evenly spread out. And even the icing didn’t make it overly sweet. Because it was put on the cake while it was still warm, it went into the cake.

Would I make this cake again? I don’t know. Honestly, it wasn’t a bad cake. And if I did make it again I would probably not add the icing.

I hope that you liked this recipe. Feel free to check it out for yourself. See you in the next post. Thank you.
