Barbara: Applesauce Chocolate Chip Bread

image

Hello, every birdy. Today we are going to be making some Apple Bread. However, this bread is a little bit different. It is using applesauce, and not whole apples.

Barbara is the singer/idol in Mondsandt. She is also the deaconess of the Church of Favonious. She is the one that inspired this recipe. Why you may ask? Honestly, because this bread was a mixture of sweet and spicy. Because she says that her favorite food is something spicy, and it needs to be sweet as well because that is just her personality.

The recipe comes from a cookbook that I got from a library book sale.  And the recipe will be in the description down below.

For this recipe, you will need

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of applesauce
  • 2 tablepsoons of melted butter or margarine
  • 2 cups of flour
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 3 tsps of baking powder
  • 1/ 2 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ¾ cup of nuts or chocolate chips

The first thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 350F and grease your bread loaf pan.

One thing you want to remember if you double this recipe, make sure that both of your pans are the same. If you have one metal pan and one glass pan just remember that you will have to let the glass pan bake for a little bit longer. Trust me, I have learned this one the hard way. Metal and glass pans don’t bake the same.

Mix together your egg, your applesauce, and the melted butter.

In a separate bowl, you are going to mix together your flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

image

Add the flour mixture to your applesauce mixture and mix it well.

This is when you will add in your nuts or your chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into your greased loaf pan and bake the bread for about 45 minutes. When poked with a toothpick or knife it will come out clean when it is done.

This recipe was delicious. Honestly, quick bread is one of my favorite things to make. They are just that, they are quick. They may have multiple steps to them. But compared to yeast bread they are not at all that hard.
