Sul Sul Gerbits. Today we are going to be making yet another pie. This one is different from other pies. You either like this flavor or you hate it. There is not in between. The flavor of pie that we are going to be making is rhubarb.

But before we make the filling we have to make the pie crust. Obviously if you prefer store bought pie crusts then feel free to skip this section.

We are only going to be needing two  pie crusts for this recipe. And the recipe for the pie crust and the pie itself well be in the description down below.

In a medium sized bowl you are going to mix together your flour and salt.

Cut in the shortening using a pastry blender or a fork if you don’t have a pastry blender. You want to do this until the mixture looks like small peas.

Sprinkle with ice cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time. The recipe calls for 3-5 tablespoons of ice cold water. But every time you make the pie crust the amount of water is going to be different because of a number of factors. You don’t want a pie crust that is too watery, and you don’t want  a pie crust that won’t come together. So you have to know how it feels.

Gather the pastry into a ball and wrap plastic wrap around it. Place it in the freezer until you are ready to use it.

Or let it sit in there for about 15-30 minutes.

Roll out the bottom crust and place it in the pie tin.

Preheat your oven to 350℉.

Mix ¾ cup of sugar, all of your flour, cornstarch and rhubarb.

Pout this mixture into the pie crust.

Mix the rest of the sugar and egg, and pour over the rhubarb.

Place the top crust on.

Bake for 45 minutes to an hour.

Rhubarb is one of those… fruits…? Vegetables? *looks off to the side* “Lin-z, Is rhubarb a vegetable or a fruit.”

Lin-z: “According to simspidea: ‘ Rhubarb is technically a vegetable but legally a fruit.”

Dori back to the camera confused: Well that didn’t really answer my question. Rhubarb is one of those flavors that you either like or dislike. I personally like it.

I hope that you liked this recipe. The recipe for both the pie crust and the pie itself will be down in the description down below.
