Sul Sul, Gerbits. Today we are going to make a classic pie, with a twist. Sometimes you just really need chocolate. So today we are going to be making a classic apple pie, with a chocolate pie crust.

The first thing you are going to do is make your pie crust.

In order to do that you are going to need: flour, salt, cocoa powder, sugar, shortening, and ice-cold water.

In a medium sized bowl you are going to mix the flour, salt, cocoa powder and sugar.

Cut in the shortening with the pastry blender.

Sprinkle in the water about 1 tablespoon at a time.

Gather the pastry into a ball, and divide it in half. And freeze it for about 15 minutes.

Now that your pastry is chilling in the freezer, you can start on your apple pie filling.

Preheat the oven to 425℉.

In a large bowl, you are going to mix together your sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Stir in 6 cups of apples. Which is approximately 6 apples.

Roll out your pastry into a 9 inch glass pie plate.

Spoon the filling into the pastry lined pie plate.

Cut butter into small pieces, sprinkle over the apples.

Cover with top pastry.

Brush the top crust with 2 teaspoons of water.

And sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar.

Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Cool on the cooling rack for about 2 hours.

And enjoy.

Apple pies are so easy and fun to make. My family told me that it was a strange combination, apple and chocolate. But it was a good combination and it tasted good.
