Sul Sul, gerbits. Today we are going to make our first international apple recipe. This recipe comes from Russia. We are going to be making a Sharlotka Apple cake. It is very similar to that of a spongy coffee cake.

The origins of this recipe are very intriguing. The recipe was created by Marie Anotine Careme. She created it in memory of the wife of Tsar Alexander I of Russia. Previously, this recipe was called Charlotte a la Parisienne. Later, it became known as Charlotte Russe.

This recipe was really simple and didn’t take that long to put together.

The first step is to preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

Line your 9×3 round pan or springform pan with parchment paper. Next, you are going to butter or spray the paper and the sides of the pan.

The recipe will be in the description down below.

You are going to need:
- 5 Large Apples
- 3 Large eggs
- flour
- sugar
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon sugar.

The recipe says to peel and core the apples. However, growing up in my house hold I was taught that you don’t need to peel apples. My mom believes that you are wasting so much apple, when you peel it. So when a recipe says to peel the apple, I usually look the other way. And not do it.

The apples go into the buttered cake pan.

Using a mixer or whisk, beat the eggs and sugar in a bowl until the sugar dissolves. This takes about 5 minutes.

Next, mix the vanilla throughout the mixture.

Gently stir in the flour with a spoon until the batter is smooth and thick.

Pour the batter over the apples in the cake pan, spreading it evenly over the apples. Gently shake the pan to allow the batter to go down to the apples.

You can bake the cake in the oven for 40-50 minutes. A toothpick inserted at 40 minutes will tell you if the cake is ready.

When the cake is ready, allow it to cool on a baking tray for about 10 minutes.

Run a knife along the sides of the cake pan.

Carefully flip upside down onto a baking tray. Peel the parchment paper off, revealing your cake’s apple base.

Sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar and place it on a cake stand or plate.

I liked this dish. It was very simple and probably a dish that I am going to make again in the future. I like the idea of seeing different apple recipes from around the world. And I am going to share with you some of the recipes that I have found. I hope that you enjoyed this, and once again the recipe, will be in the description down below. Feel free to check it out.
