Hey, every birdy, Today’s recipe is not exactly a recipe per say But more a father-daughter tradition that my brothers soon had to be a part of. For Pop and I, it will always be OUR tradition.

Now Skirk was a character that
I racked my brain for ages. “What
Do I give someone who is from a
different planet and doesn’t exactly have a favorite or least favorite food?” Skirk is a character from another
The world and she are known to us as Tartiglia’s teacher, she wanders all over Teyvat. The only thing She says she likes it simple high energy meals That did not mean anything to me That is until I looked at her signature dish and it was Grilled fish with what I knew What I was sharing.

This tradition started when I was young I mean I would have been in about third grade because it is one of the First memories I have in the house.

One year my Pop (dad) bought some fresh smoked herring from our local grocery rocery store.

He wanted all three oldest kids to
try it. And we were all really skeptical about what he wanted us to try.

My mom was not very keen on the smell, but thought it would be lovely if Pop had a tradition with us.

Oldest Brother tried some and for the life of me, I can’t remember if he liked it or not.

Second Oldest Brother tried it and declared it was not good.

Now it’s my turn. I am not one to say no to new foods.

Boy! Did it smell fishy? Not bad fishy, like it’s gone bad. Just fishy.
I took a cracker and Pop gave me a piece.

Light bulb went off. Taste buds exploded. I was so happy to try something this amazing!

I mean what kid isn’t happy on Christmas Eve? But this was a different type of happiness.

From that year on we had to get Kippers (smoked herring) and Ritz crackers.

Over the years however, we have had to switch to canned Kippers. And they are good in their own light.

Every Christmas Eve we have
many traditions:

  • Make Empandas for Christmas
  • dinner
  • Make Heavenly Kruggel for
  • Christmas Brunch
  • Have Kippers and Crackers
  • We never had/have a big sit-down dinner on either Christmas Eve or Christmas. It’s just simpler that way.

I am just so lucky that my
Pop decided that year to get
smoked herring.

I hope that you like this recipe. Feel free to check out this and other recipes like it. Thank you in advance. See you in the next recipe.
