Hey every birdy This recipe is oneof my simple and today and it is onecomfort and nostalgia.

The character in question is Iansan she is atrainer from Natlan she is Veresa’s trainer and she is strong herself being a personal trainer. She says that she likes nutritious meals that are filling she also states that she doesn’t like deep-fried food and despite the name, fry bread is not deep fried. And humus is just one of my comfort foods.

This recipe for fry bread comes from a recipe my mom found years ago on the internet.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 tbsp oil

We use a griddle to make these and spray just a bit of oil on it, so that they would not be deep fried.

Combine the flour, baking powder and saltin a bowl.

Stir in water and oil until the dough comes together into a ball.

Pinch off golf ball size balls and Roll them flat.

Make a small hole in the center.

“Fry” them until they are golden brown on each side.

The recipe makes 10.

So when we are making it we usually triple or quadruple this recipe.

You can place a cookie sheet in the oven at the lowest temperature it can go.

Place the fry bread on the baking sheet, while you makeyour humus.

For the humus you will need:

  • Chickpeas (dried or canned. Use what you have)
  • Salt
  • Olive oil ( or vegetable oil)
  • Chicken bouillon

Your seasonings of choice.

Some variations that I have used:

Salt, pepper, garlic powder.

Salt, pepper, caramelized onions

Salt, pepper, Korean Red pepper flakes.

The choice is yours.

If you are using dried chickpeas You will need to cook them. I use the instant pot, But you could cook them on the stove.

Just know thatI am not exactly sure how to do that So I am going to share how I cook my dried chickpeas/ garbanzo beans.

I rinse my beans and place them in the instant pot I usually do 1 pounds of dried beans.

Add the rinsed beans to my instant pot and enough water to cover. This is when you are going to add your salt, and chicken broth.Let it pressure cook for about 45 minutes.

Let it naturally release for about 10 minutes. And then release the pressure.

Allow the beans to cool a bit before working with them.

Add your beans, oil, and seasonings to a blender.

Add a bit of the aquafaba ( bean water) to this to help with the consistency.

Blend a little bit at a time.

Cool before eating.

Grab your fry bread and humus and enjoy an easy and filling dinner.

This is one of those go to summer recipes.

Add some fresh or canned fruit on the side and Enjoy.

This easily one of the simplest recipes. What I mean by this is you can’t forget the beans on in the morning and you just slowly put everything together.

I hope that you like this recipe. Feel free to check out this and other recipes like it. Thank you in advance. See you in the next recipe
