Xionlen: Chocolate Cake

Hey everybirdy today we are going to be making such a good recipe. And the character is one of two Natlan characters that I have.

Xiolenen (She-low-nin) is a mechanic in Natlan and she is the one character that I needed when I saw the trailer for Natlan. She is actually the inventor of Mavuika’s Motorcycle. She says that she loves sugar and chocolate simply because they can give her energy when she needs it.

Today’s recipe comes from one of my cookbook collections, the cookbook “A Taste of Hope.” The recipe is called “Easy Chocolate Cake” by “Ursula Herbert.”
For this recipe, you are gonna need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks of margarine
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • And for the icing, you are gonna need:
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 stick of margarine
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 box (4 cups) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans optional

The first thing you are going to do is preheat your oven to 350 F and grease a 9×13 pan.

If you do not have buttermilk, don’t fret, you can simply make it with 1/2 a cup of regular (2% or your preference) and 1 1/2 teaspoons of either vinegar or lemon juice, and let it sit for about 5 minutes.

Now we are going to start on the cake.

Mix the flour and sugar in a large bowl.

In a small saucepan, we’re mixing the margarine, cocoa, and water. Bring this mixture to a boil and pour it over the flour/sugar mixture.

Add in the eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and baking soda.

Mix this all.

Place in your prepared 9×13 and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

While it’s baking, you can work on your icing.

For the icing, you are going to bring the milk, margarine, and cocoa to a boil.

Add sugar, vanilla, and the optional pecan.

Spread this icing over the hot cake while the cake is still in its pan.

This cake was really easy to make. It wasn’t just the name. Despite how much sugar was in it, it wasn’t overly sweet. And that is one of my fears as a baker. I bake something that has everyone wanting to go brush their teeth to get the “sugar” feeling off their teeth.

But overall this was a really good recipe. I hope that you like this recipe. Feel free to check out more recipes like this one
