Mona: Follow the Star Pie

image

Hello, every birdy. Today we are going to be making something that was extremely easy and honestly didn’t cost anything for me. And it probably won’t cost anything for you either. All you have to do is make so cider and use the applesauce, or apple pulp from it. And put that in between two pie crusts.

The character in question: is Mona (Mo-na). She is a frugal astrologist from Modnstandt. When the player first plays. We are thought to believe that she doesn’t have much Mora, Genshins Money system,  to her name. However, that is not the case. She has some Mora to her name, she just doesn’t have much on her person.

With that being said, her favorite food is a salad. The reason for this is that it is cheap, easy to whip up and it is filling. I thought for a while about what her recipe would be and as a spur of the moment. I thought that an Apple Pie recipe using some leftover applesauce would be the best. Because I literally didn’t have to buy anything for it.

For this recipe, I followed the Apple Pie Recipe that I have been using since I was a young child. I would always help my mom with the pies on Thanksgiving. And this recipe has been the same ever since. We always go with the Betty Crocker “Scrumptious Apple Pie” Recipe.  While also using their Pie crust recipe.

Both recipes and the measurements will be down below. Feel free to check it out for yourselves.

The first thing that we are going to be doing is the pie crust. You can, however, just use the store-bought pie crust.

In a medium-sized bowl, you are going to mix together your flour and salt. Cut in your shortening using either a pastry blender or two table knives. You want this mixture to look like small peas. Now, add your ice water 1 tablespoon at a time. Tossing with a fork, or your clean hand. You will want to do this until all of the flour is moistened and the pastry almost cleans the side of the bowl. You may need 1-2 more tablespoons.

image

Next, you are going to place your dough on a lightly floured surface. And gather it into a ball. Divide your dough in half, and flatten both rounds. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 45 minutes. Or the freezer for about 15 minutes.

This is where you can have fun with colors if you want to, just remember to wear gloves so that your hands don’t get stained.  I colored my bottom pie crust blue, in honor of the night sky. And then with the top pie crust, I divided that into 4 equal parts. And colored them, yellow, green, and yellow-green. To represent the stars in the sky.

The filling is really easy. And it really didn’t take that long to put together.

image

I grabbed the apple sauce that I had in my refrigerator and I put that in a bowl. To the applesauce, I added a little bit of sugar. ¼ cup of flour. A tiny bit of cinnamon and nutmeg, because the applesauce already had some spices in it. And a little bit of salt. Stir everything together and let it sit.

image

Preheat your oven to 425F.

image

Grab your dough from the freezer or the fridge, and begin rolling it out to the size pie pan you have.

image

Place the apple sauce mixture on top of the bottom crust.

image

Now is the fun part. Starting with one of the colors, you are going to roll it out to a thickness you desire. Get yourself a star cookie cutter, and just start cutting out the pie crust as if it were a sugar cookie.

image

Repeat this step until the pie is covered. Don’t worry if you have leftover dough. Just make them little dots, and they can be stars too.

image

Place your pie tin onto a cookie sheet so that you won’t have to clean up any spillage that might accrue. It most likely won’t happen with this pie, however, I like a quick and easy cleanup.

image

Bake your pie for 40 to 50 minutes or until the crust is brown and the juice begins to bubble. Because you are using applesauce, it won’t exactly bubble. However, you will know when it has been done because it has the same kinda consistency of as a Pumpkin Pie.

I had a lot of fun with this recipe. I knew that I wanted to do something fun with Mona’s because I really didn’t want to do another salad. Not that I dislike salads or anything. But they are just hard to write about. “Just put random vegetables together on a plate and put your desired dressing on. “ Just a bit boring.
