Sul Sul, Gerbits. Today we are going to be making a very simple recipe. And this recipe has a nice balance of flavor. We are going to be making a cake in the Instant Pot. Just a simple Vanilla Cake that I made in the Instant Pot.

I have had an Instant Pot for almost 2 years, and my mom uses it a lot for dinner. And I have seen some recipes online for cakes in the Instant pot. And I found this recipe, with only a few ingredients.

For the frosting I used  Betty Crocker’s Creamy frosting.

And for the filling, I made an apple pie filling.

All of the recipes will be in the description down below.

For the cake we are going to mix together the flour and baking powder.

In another bowl you are going to mix the butter and sugar together.

Then add in the whisked egg and your vanilla extract.

Now you are going to add the flour mixture to the butter sugar mixture.

While you are stirring you are going to add the milk.

Grease a 6-inch baking pan, a pan that can fit into your Instant Pot.

And if you don’t have an Instant pot I still think that this recipe will work.

If you just want to put it in the oven, you can.

This is a smaller cake recipe, so just decrease the time that it would take if you made a cake in 2 8 or 9-inch cake pans.

So for an oven, I think you would want to bake the cake at 350℉. And bake it for about 22 minutes. If you are using a standard 8 or 9 inch cake pan bake for about 30 minutes.

Just remember that this is going to be a smaller cake recipe than normal, because it is a recipe designed for the instant pot.

If you are making it in the Instant Pot.

Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot and place your trivet correctly into the Instant Pot.

Cover the cake in tin foil and place it on the trivet.

Close the lid of the Instant Pot and cook at high pressure for 30 minutes.

When the cook time is complete. Wait for a natural pressure release. That means the pressure button is down.

Carefully open the lid. Just a tip, you don’t want to accidentally place the lid onto your stove or oven. Because there have been people’s Instant Pot Lids that melted on the stove-top.  Making them have to buy a new stove AND a new Instant Pot.

Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes.

Then take the cake out of the pan, and let it cool on a wire rack for another 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, wrap the cake in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for about 15 to 30 minutes. That way it is easier to frost.

While the cake is cooling you can start on your frosting.

I used the Vanilla Creamy frosting recipe from Betty Crocker.

In a mixing bowl you are going to mix together the powdered sugar and the butter. You can either use an electric mixer or a spoon. As I have used both, I prefer using the electric  mixer because it makes the butter more smooth.

Stir in the vanilla and 1 tablespoon of milk.

You are going to beat in just enough of your remaining milk to make the frosting smooth, spreadable and pipeable.

Once again I am using the Apple Pie Filling from Betty Crocker. I just like this recipe.

For the filling you are going to mix the sugar, ¼ cup flour , cinnamon, nutmeg and ⅛ teaspoon of salt in a large bowl.

Stir in the apples. I usually use 6 apples when I am making an apple pie.

To frost, fill with frosting. Add a ring of frosting, and then add the apple pie filling. And then add the top of the cake.

This was a cake that I was just really proud of. It tasted really good and It looked really cute. I had a bunch of fun with this recipe.

I hope that you like this recipe. Feel free to check out the recipe or recipes in the description down below. Vadish, Dag Dag.
