Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional

Directions

  • Prep Your Space: Let's get our kitchen ready for a little baking therapy! Preheat your oven to 375°F. Set aside your ungreased baking sheets so they are ready to go when you are.
  • Whisk Your Dry Ingredients: Grab a small bowl and gently stir your flour, baking soda, and salt together. Once combined, set it aside to breathe.
  • Cream with Care: In a large mixing bowl, beat together your margarine, white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Keep mixing until the blend becomes wonderfully nice, creamy, and smooth.
  • Embrace the Blend: Add your eggs in one at a time, beating well after each one to fully integrate them. Gradually mix in your flour blend, then gently stir in your chocolate chips and chopped nuts by hand.
  • Scoop into Sweetness: Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto your baking sheets. Leave a little room between them so they have space to spread out and bake beautifully.
  • Bake & Breathe: Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the cookies turn a beautiful golden brown. Gently switch your baking racks halfway through so they cook perfectly evenly.
  • Rest & Relax: Let the cookies cool right on the warm baking sheets for 2 minutes. Transfer them over to a wire rack to cool completely before enjoying your baking therapy reward.
