Honestly this is one of my comfort recipes. When I am not feeling well and I know I have to eat something. I usually choose French toast. You could omit the spices and have it be like a sandwich if you wanted to. But I always end up going on the sweet side of French Toast.

French Toast

Ingredients

  • Loaf of Bread Food Bank / $1.42
  • 3 Beaten eggs Food Bank / $1.97 for 1 Dozen Eggs
  • 9 oz milk Food Bank / $1.72 for 1/2 Gallon
  • Cinnamon $1.32
  • Vanilla $1.84
  • Nutmeg $2.46
  • Butter / Margarine $1.28
  • Syrup $2.36

Instructions

  • Add milk to beaten eggs.
  • Add spices.
  • Dip pieces of bread into the mixture.
  • Melt and lightly brown butter in a pan.
  • Place in bread pieces and sprinkle with salt ( I don’t do this.)
  • Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  • Serve with Syrup.
