Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies

I can't believe I was able to find red hots this last year when I made them. I was so happy because the holiday chocolate candy worked. But they didn't have the same flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Mix sugars, peanut butter, shortening, butter, and egg in a large bowl.
  2. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours or until firm.
  4. Heat oven to 375°F.
  5. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Place about 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Flatten in a crisscross pattern with a fork dipped into sugar.
  7. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on the wire rack.
