Easy Candy Cane Crinkles

I made these for the first time way back in December 2019. Now, whenever I have candy canes in the house, my family is always like, "Are you going to make your cookies?"

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 Candy Canes Crushed. About 1/4 Cup
  • 1/2 Cup Margarine**
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Grease a light-colored baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray, parchment paper, or a silicone baking mat. Set it aside.
  • Crush your candy canes.
  • In a large bowl, Cream together your margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in your vanilla and egg.
  • Making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl.
  • In a small separate bowl, mix all of your dry ingredients: your salt, baking powder, baking soda, and flour.
  • Slowly add this mixture to your other bowl.
  • Remember to scrape the sides of the bowl.
  • When the two mixtures are just combined, add in your candy canes.
  • Put some powdered sugar on a plate.
  • Roll your cookie dough into balls and roll them in the powdered sugar.
  • Place these cookies at least an inch or two apart.
  • Bake your cookies for 9 to 11 minutes or until the bottoms begin to barely brown and the cookies look shiny.
  • Let them cool on the baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
